Richard Liu is a Chinese business magnate and entrepreneur. He is the founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of JD.com, China’s largest online retailer by revenue and market capitalization. Richard Liu was born in Jiangsu Province, China, in 1974. He received a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the Renmin University of China in 1996. He founded JD.com in 1998, and the company has since grown to become one of China’s largest e-commerce platforms.

Liu has also been philanthropic and donated over RMB 100 million to various charitable causes. In 2015, he established the JD Foundation, and a charity focused on education, disaster relief, and environmental protection.
