Nasser Khan Emphasizes Innovation and Technology Integration at Acadia Healthcare

Nasser Khan has articulated a vision for innovation that extends beyond traditional operational improvements at Acadia Healthcare. His approach examines how technology, care delivery models, and operational processes can combine to enhance both patient outcomes and employee experiences across Acadia Healthcare’s behavioral health network.

“One thing that you will see more of is a real focus on innovation,” Khan stated when discussing his priorities as chief operating officer. “[We will] ask ourselves in what ways can we leverage and adapt technology, ways of thinking and ways of working to meet our primary objectives around being a great employer and a great caretaker for patients.”

This innovation focus builds on Khan’s background in healthcare technology. Before joining Acadia Healthcare, Nasser Khan served as head of program and chief medical officer at Biograph Inc., a healthcare technology company. That role involved developing new programs and partnerships while overseeing research and development initiatives.

Acadia Healthcare has implemented several technology initiatives that support operational efficiency and clinical care delivery. Electronic medical record systems are being deployed across acute care and residential treatment facilities. These systems enable better care coordination, reduce medication errors, and provide data infrastructure for tracking patient progress and outcomes.

Remote patient monitoring technology represents another area of investment. These tools allow clinical staff to monitor patient status and respond more quickly to emerging needs. Staff safety systems have also been enhanced, providing employees with better tools to request assistance during challenging situations.

Nasser Khan’s operational approach examines how technology can address practical barriers to care. During his tenure leading the comprehensive treatment center division, he implemented strategies that reduced dosing wait times at medication-assisted treatment facilities. Shorter wait times improve patient experience and remove friction points that might otherwise discourage individuals from maintaining consistent treatment engagement.

Process improvement methodologies inform Khan’s approach to innovation. His career includes multiple roles focused on operational turnarounds and efficiency enhancements. “He has successfully managed and grown multi-site, healthcare delivery networks,” John Hollinsworth noted. “His experience in process improvement, innovative patient care, and network expansion will serve this business line well.”

Data analytics capabilities support quality monitoring and performance improvement efforts across Acadia Healthcare’s facilities. Nasser Khan maintained quality scores of 99% across all 13 CARF dimensions while leading the comprehensive treatment center division, demonstrating how systematic quality monitoring can maintain standards during expansion.

Mobile vans added to the comprehensive treatment center network under Khan’s leadership extend geographic reach beyond fixed clinic locations. These mobile units bring medication-assisted treatment services directly to communities with transportation barriers or limited access to traditional healthcare facilities.

Khan’s innovation philosophy considers how operational changes affect both patients and employees. “My priorities are threefold,” Khan stated. “Two of them are … people and people. It’s service to our patients and it’s service to our staff.” This dual focus recognizes that employee satisfaction and retention influence the quality of care patients receive.

Acadia Healthcare added 11 new comprehensive treatment center clinics during Khan’s time leading that division. Opening new facilities requires establishing operational systems, training staff, and implementing quality protocols. The ability to replicate successful operational models across new locations depends on having standardized processes supported by appropriate technology infrastructure.

As chief operating officer, https://theorg.com/org/acadia-healthcare/org-chart/nasser-khan now oversees operational functions for all service lines within Acadia Healthcare’s network of 270 facilities. This broader scope provides opportunities to apply innovation and technology integration strategies across acute care facilities, specialty treatment facilities, residential treatment centers, and outpatient clinics serving diverse patient populations.
