Zach McLeroy, the co-founder and longtime CEO of Zaxby’s Chicken, will be stepping down from his role as CEO and transitioning to the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors. Bernard Acoca, the former CEO of El Pollo Loco, has been appointed as the new Zaxby’s CEO.

McLeroy co-founded Zaxby’s in 1990 with his childhood friend Tony Townley. The pair opened the first Zaxby’s restaurant in Statesboro, Georgia, with a simple concept of serving delicious chicken in a casual setting. Over the years, Zaxby’s has grown into a beloved brand with over 900 locations in 17 states.
