Bernard Acoca Appointed As CEO Of Zaxby’s

Zaxby’s Chicken, the fast-growing chicken chain known for its franchisees’ commitment to excellence and customer service, announced that CEO Zach McLeroy would transition to chairman of the board effective January 2022. Bernard Acoca will become a chief executive officer in a succession plan designed by McLeroy.

Bernard Acoca has been in the restaurant industry for more than 20 years and is currently serving as a chief executive officer of Zaxby’s. Bernard Acoca has also served as president at El Pollo Loco, a Mexican-style grilled chicken restaurant chain, and an executive leader at Starbucks, a chain of coffeehouses.

The Transition

McLeroy will adopt the role of chairman of the board of directors. In his new capacity, McLeroy will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for Zaxby’s and overseeing its overall performance. Zach McLeroy, chairman of Zaxby’s Franchising Inc., is delighted to welcome Bernard to his family of franchisees. Acoca is a seasoned restaurant executive and will bring valuable experience to Zaxby’s leadership team.
